Unexpected Adventure

09/09/2022

At the end of May I returned to South Africa for the next leg of my journey at LIV Village. I really was stepping into the unknown all over again as I didn't renew my long-term volunteer visa but instead re-entered on a 90 day tourist visa, sensing this season was going to look different from before.

In August, as the end of this period was quickly approaching, I began to wonder what I was going to do when the visa expired: I needed to leave the country. The Equine Program was beginning to build momentum and going back to England felt like an interruption and a backwards step, but surely that was the only option?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.                                                      Proverbs 3:5-6

As the final weeks turned into final days. I really was feeling scattered and confused. I had no idea what was going to happen.

Wasn't there supposed to be a plan?

Shouldn't I know where I was going by now?

I realised I was in a place I hadn't been before and my journey so far would not inform me of the road ahead. Trying to analyse and figure it all out wasn't the way.

I cried out to God, 'Lord, where am I going?' I need to know!'

His reply was as unexpected as the destination I would soon discover he had prepared for me.
'Deeper', He said.

6 days and 17 hours before I needed to leave SA, God opened up the way for me to travel to Uganda through a connection with a leader at LIV. He had the most amazing plan in store; better than anything I could have imagined.

T'is so sweet to trust in Jesus.

On 26th August I landed in Entebbe, Uganda. I was warmly welcomed and escorted to Kampala. I spent 10 days visiting WATOTO children's villages and ministry. I spent time with the children and families, visited some of the Watoto church campuses and explored the local community.

I served in the babies' home which was an absolute highlight of my stay. If you know me, you'll know I love babies even more than I love horses :)

God surpassed my expectations in every way. Each day was better than the one before

I fell in love with the people and the 'Pearl of Africa'.

The visa expiry wasn't a limitation but an opportunity to experience our Father's faithfulness over and over again. And it wasn't really about where I was going but who I was going with. Relationship was the destination.

He is the way
